At an early age, I felt a burning desire to bring to life the stories I constantly envisioned in my head. I spent most of my free time on creative projects, whether making stop-motion films with my Lego characters or shooting George Lucas-style movies using my father’s camera and lots of green cardboard. When many of my friends became interested in video games, my focus remained on the immersive world of playing characters and telling stories. I started Impusus, to do what I have always wanted to do. Tell Stories.
I have been at Alza Acting Studio for over a year. The acting studio is located downtown and focuses on Acting Techniques for Film. It has taught me so much about acting and different ways to tell a compelling story to an audience. I am also learning how to take apart a script and unearth truths about the character, truths that the scriptwriter intended to be noticed. It has greatly impacted my ability to act, and I look forward to auditioning in the future and landing different roles that help portray a meaningful story. The acting studio was founded by the successful Canadian Actor, Walter Alza.
I completed Second City Stand-up 2. This was a lot more advanced than the first session. The class consisted of coming up with 5 bits for each class, performing them, work shopping them, and then writing new bits. Was super fun and I got to meet many cool new up coming comics in the toronto region.
I was an intern at one of Pakistan's biggest production companies, Hum TV. I worked there under their morning show as a digital marketer, podcast host, and even as a director. I was an assistant director during pre-production of a sports documentary that aimed to shine a light on young up and coming Pakistani athletes. After a couple of months, I pitched a pilot script for a new drama, which made it's way to pre-production, before getting halted due to other projects in the pipeline.
I was a Portfolio Support Associate of a student-led Venture Capital firm, Front Row Ventures. It is a VC firm backed by Real Ventures and focuses on funding student-led startups. I was responsible for a handful of companies in the portfolio and helped them with anything they may have been struggling with. Some of the biggest companies that exist in the world today started off in a dorm room, and it is so crucial for many founders who haven't been discovered yet to have a chance to bring their products to life, because who knows, they may just put a dent in the universe...
I am the Co-Founder and CEO of a startup called Solvr. Solvr is a peer-to-peer tutoring platform online for students worldwide. We enable students to make money by tutoring other students as well as enabling them to connect to a tutor in a swift manner. I co-founded this company in high school with my best friend Arsh Kamran and am still currently working on it. I am also working on another side project at the moment which is approaching the MVP stage. Honestly... I like building cool shit! I also completed YC Startup School 2022 (It's free but super cool)
The Human Experience is a podcast where I talk to all sorts of humans that I find interesting. You don't have to be a billionaire, or an A-list Hollywood actor, just a fascinating human being. They're a lot more difficult to come by in this day and age. I'll interview anyone on here, from Entrepreneurs to Actors, or Business executives to Comedians. Join me as we dive into the depths of this beautiful thing called life.
I completed the Stand-Up 1 course at Second City Toronto. It was super fun and insightful, we went through how to write a joke, come up with a premise, and the different methods for writing a set and polishing it. At the end of the 7-week course, we had a grad show where we did a 5-6 minute bit in front of an audience. I hit up an open mic before the show to see which jokes hit, polished the set, and was ready for the grad show. It was an absolute blast!
I am a big fan of Jocko, David Goggins, and Lex Fridman. I believe discipline is freedom and the key to building a stable life. I embarked on a challenge... the 75-Day Hard Challenge. It's a challenge where every day for 75 days you: Work out 2x - once inside once outside, read 10 pages of a book, have no added sugar, drink 1 gallon of water, and take a progress photo. This challenge changed my life, I completed it, and ever since then I have always incorporated daily disciplines in my life to stick to in order to keep that structured and stable feeling.
I was an associate at Waterloo Private Capital. WPC has clients and basically helps pitch different industries to them by doing thorough financial analysis. It has been a big learning experience for me and has helped increase my knowledge of the finance world in total.
